Originally down for a release in November 2009 Warner Bros. have announced the date for the Lord of the Rings on Blu-ray is 6th April 2010. Several Blu-ray specialist blogs have said the delay was because Warner Bros. didn't want Lord of the Rings 'lost in the crowd' having already announced the release of several classics in the Blu-ray format in the run up to Christmas. Recently Peter Jackson was quick to put down the rumors of a delay to the release time of The Hobbit yet in the latest Variety they have an interview with New Line Cinema executive Alan Horn who says the most probable release date will be Christmas 2012. The Sun newspaper, a major tabloid here in the UK is today running a story that claims Tobey Maguire of Spiderman fame is to play the Bilbo Baggins role in The Hobbit. The Hobbit starts filming this June according to a Twitter from Production Weekly. "Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit is due to begin a 14 month production schedule this June in New Zealand."
