I love the look of Mirkwood and I am so glad that it is sooo different from Fangorn! and the look of that elven costume was great!

  5. i'll have to wait till I get home to see it. My phone doesn't support video. Which just plain old fashion sucks. It is sucktakular... Oh well gives me something to look forward to when I do get home. Cant wait to see it

  7. If you are interested in cameras and 3d its a decent vid- if not then you are reduced to trying to see whats going on in the background looking for clues to what they are up to and things to get crabbit about.
I suppose they aren't going to go giving much away but a tiny teaser of something would be nice thats from the fiished article (and they must have something finished by now!)

  8. I'm sure they have some scenes done but I don't think there has been anything done post production wise. I think all we will be given will be hints, and glimpses of what is to come. Hopefully it doesn't take forever for another video blog... The natives get restless when there is no new news

Nora I agree about the small glimpse of an elven costume we saw, I wonder who it is? maybe Lindir? I really liked the look of Mirkwood it looks suitably creepy. but Bombur's fat suit still looks fake to me.

  10. woke up this morning (less than an hour ago) and was thinking "please please please let the new blog be there!" over and over again...and wasn't disappointed! They have the scene with Bilbo opening the door and all the dwarves falling over!!!! I'm so happy!!!!!

    Jason, what's "crabbit"? crabby?

I enjoyed it. Martin Freeman looked great as Bilbo, and there was a scene with the concept art that looked like it was a little old because PJ was thinner. You can definitely see that he's put on weight since starting this movie. I guess that's the price you pay for dedication.

  12. there was ALOT of cool stuff in there. Mirkwood looks AMAZING. and the bit with Bilbo above the tree canopy looks pretty cool too. and there were dwarfs falling in on the doorstep when Bilbo opened the door. dwarfs wrapped in spider webbing So much cool stuff behind the whole 3d thing it was cool the 3 dwarfs that went like they were attacking and then got pulled back on wires like they were hit by something....

  13. Woho! This was over the top! I have some knowledge about cameras, so this was pretty interesting! And now that I have seen more of the dwarfs in action, they actually look mutch better then I have thought from the begining :D

  14. Jason, what's "crabbit"? crabby? - Jana

Scots slang for someone who is a bit miserable and cantankerous and tends to complain and moan and see the worst in things- obviously not like anyone I know!

  15. obviously Jason LMAO j/k

    That was awesome!!!!

I thought the dwarves looked aweome moving about. Even with no height comparisons I thought the looked more dwarven then the original photos. Although I liked the original photos for the most part.

  20. Nora I can teach you some Scots slang!

Bam – “uneducated delinquent”. Blether – “is to have a long talk”.
Havering – “to talk a load of rubbish or nonsense”. Rammy- "a fight".
An then yer arse fell aff- "the person speaking is talking rubbish."
Away an bile yer heid -"go away and be quiet" (lit. go away and boil your head).
Numpty- "someone who is a bit short of intelligence or has acted foolishly"
Peely-Wally- "sickly, ill". Bawbag- "a useless person."
Besom -"originally a broomstick, now means a cheeky or naughty female"
Buckied - "to be so drunk as not to know what you are doing or have any hope of remebering it anyway."

Those should get you started Nora, I've left out the more, um, colourful ones (of which there are an awful lot!)

  22. Some American slang

ding dong - "you ding dong" dumb, stupid
    bomb - "that's bomb!" that's awesome, cool
    klutz - clumsy
freeway - interstate roads that have speeds between 60 and 80 miles per hour (I believe you call them motorways in the U.K., right Jason and Julia?)
    Micky D's - McDonald's
    Wally World - Walmart
    dodo - stupid "you're a dodo"
an arm and a leg- it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg (ie, lots of money)
    crack up - to laugh

  23. It says something about the mass export of US culture that I knew all the US slang there Jana but not all of Julia's and she's probably only about a hundred or so miles away from where I am!
Although US terms do often confuse me trying to understand them- for example freeways- are they not all toll roads? Therefore not in fact free at all?

    Posted 6 months ago #
  24. I thought you might know all that...for that reason. lol
No, freeways are actually free. There are toll roads, but only a very small percentage (very small), and a percentage of that is usually used to make improvements on the road itself. Technically they're NOT free, of course, since our tax money pays for it....Do you have many toll roads?
What other American terms confuse you?

    Posted 6 months ago #
  25. 'Football' used for the name of a game where you use your hands mainly. That one not only confuses it annoys as there is a perfectly good game involving a ball and using a foot to propel it thats very popular elsewhere!
Why is the Baseball and the Superball considered world competions?- with World Champions and a World Series when only Americans get to play?
And whats with the hatred of the letter 'u'? Don't you realise that colour withought a u in it spells col-or and flavour without a u spells flav-or?
Was the first US dictionary written by someone who couldn't spell?
See Jana you've got my crabbit muscles all flexed now!

why do people say yard when they mean garden? that always confuses me because a back yard in England means a rather small courtyard at the back of a house with a shed in it or if you are unlucky and living in the 1940's the toilet. or pigeons. or other peoples kitchen appliances that 'fell of the back of a lorry'.

Jana the floodgates are open now its Crabbit Time, imagine MC Hammer Time but with a Scottish accent.

  27. This seemed somewhat appropriate here. Strong language.

And yes I am sitting here just thinking about things which annoy me now!!
(MC Hammer- so disappointing, he wasn't even a real hammer)

Jana this is how the kilt was invented, honest!
strong language and one rude word.

    Posted 6 months ago #
  29. Sounds about right to me! Although typical englishman knows nothing of the potential a kilt offers for stashing buckie under.
