    Ayup All...

And do you like/Dislike them ? ATMO, I'm watching FOTR, and we're at Moria with the Troll. I'd like to play this level again on my PS2, but it's Bust, and I feel not a little frustrated. Does anyone/ Has anyone played any of the Games and Like/Dislike them ? do you feel like they shortchanged LOTR too, by being (in the Main) turned into 'Hack and Slah' games ?

I've played the video games based on the movies (The Two Towers and The Return of the King) and I love them. I was really into them back in the early 2000s shortly after the films came out, and I still have fond memories of them. They are of course quite dated (especially with the advent of open world games), but hack-and-slash battling my way across Middle-earth through remarkably faithful reconstructions AND extrapolations of film sets still brings me great joy on the occasions when I pop in one of the games.

On the other hand, I thought the Fellowship of the Ring game based on the book was boring and cartoonish. I stopped playing after about 15 minutes because my Frodo character was stung to death by a bee after I failed to beat it away with my walking stick.

    Simultaneous posting FTW! :D

Has anyone played any of the newer games? LOTR Online, Conquest, or War in the North? I wanted to get Conquest when it came out but we didn't have a 360 then (just a seven year old original Xbox) and all the reviews I read said it was a bad SW: Battlefront clone. I heard War in the North was pretty bad too. I'm still somewhat curious about LOTRO, but it's PC-only and I use Linux, sooo.....

The only ones I have played are the RTS battle for middle earth games.

Altough it is quite fun to have Nazgul, Noldor, Swan Knights to fight with, the game actually feel quite small. I got used to playing the first supreme commander game which is on the kind of epic scale that the LOTR game should have been. Very limiting only being able to have a handful of units at any one time.

Not in to hack and slash games so cant comment of those.. sorry.
