No problem Lester Cat, I'm a bit of an aging curmudgeon myself at times . And I do enjoy a sarcastic wit if not overdone.

But really, are there no actors that you've seen that you think might be good as Thorin? If it's a lesser known actor, we do all have the Google .

Brian Cox. Never heard of him! But as soon as I saw his picture I thought, hey, yeah, well... looks like him, yep!

I have seen Brian Cox in a few films including X-men 2 and Troy. He really is excellent. He is a Scot like Sir Connery (and Gimli ). And he even looks a bit like Connery and has that similar sense of Kingly Gravitas. And they both have played Agamemnon. Yes indeedy, he's a great choice for Thorin.

Can't see Bruce as Thorin mind you, even if he was alive. You know, he might have made a good elve though - perhaps from the Far East of Middle-earth - with those magical skills he had!
