TotalFilm.com have shortlisted the site in the fan based movie site category.

While I wouldn't expect to win the thing, I don't really want to be last which is where I am at the moment so if you can spare 5 seconds you can vote at....

Thanks in advance

I'll make sure to vote again when I get on my home computer.

P.S. I can't believe Twilight is in the lead :( . What is wrong with people?

I'm not suprised that Twilight is in the lead. As much as I love Tolkien, he is not an easy read. Twilight (I assume) is geared towards a younger audience and is much easier to read. It's just going to be more popular now. Take ten years from now, will it still be popular like Tolkien still will? Only time will tell.

Personally, I doubt it. It seems a bit faddish to me. But it depends largely on how iconic the characters become. Frodo/Bilbo /Gandalf , Aslan and the Pevensies, Harry and his scar are as indelibly etched into the Collective Consciousness of the world as are Superman/Batman/Spiderman, Yoda/Skywalker/Vader, Kirk/Spock/McCoy/Data, and (unfortunately) McDonalds and Coca Cola, and (less unfortunately) the Mouse House  !!! It's plausible that Twilight will gain a following with some lasting effects (like Ann Rice), but like Ann Rice, the Twilight series is unlikely to achieve such a lofty status.

I'm glad I'm among people who don't necessarily like Twilight. I really don't know much about it, but from what I've heard, it just sounds like the type of thing that every teenage girl will fall in love with. Then, the next week, they fall in love with the next "awesome" film/book. It is all part of the shallow Zach Efron/Miley Cirus/Jonas Brothers movement. All shall fade. You cannot copy history (like some of these people are trying to do. Jonas Bros. = Beatles? NO). Once the copies have died down, the originals will still stand firm.

btw, it'd probably be best if we didn't ramble much here. This isn't exactly the place for debating this subject. Maybe we should move it somewhere else if people want to talk in depth about it.

Well, it's over, and Transformers got a jump of 1,000 votes in about 1 day (the last day of the poll). Really weird... :? So we finished 3rd. Not bad, but not good either. I guess The Hobbit is still too early for the general population to be interested ;)
