Introduction

Postby Eldorion on Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:11 am

A long time ago (a couple of months, maybe :P) I made a post in the New Members thread saying hello. But then I more or less disappeared. Now I'm back though, and I hope to stick around a bit longer, so I thought I would say hello again.

Anyway, I'm a student living in the U.S., I've been obsessed with The Lord of the Rings and Middle-earth in general to varying degrees for the past five years or so, and I like discussing it with other people, which is largely why I sought out other fans on the internet. :ugeek: LOTR is probably my favorite Tolkien book, though I like just about all of them. Children of Hurin I'm not so keen on (tragedy isn't quite my thing), and the History of Middle-earth, while enjoyable, is not something you read like a finished story. Unfinished Tales I find much easier to get through though.

As you have probably guessed by now I have a tendency to ramble. Because of that I will simply end now with that Hello again!

Hey, welcome back, Eldorion! I've really enjoyed the new life you've brought to the forum! When this forum used to take me 10 min. a day, it's been taking me around an hour now! Thanks!

And I really appreciate how you talk of LOTR as a single book. You're right on the money.

Don't worry about rambling. As long as it doesn't get us horribly off-topic, we love discussion!!

You're very welcome, and thank you Beren for the kind welcome! :) I really like this forum, and it's great that there are other people who like discussing stuff. I wouldn't be able to post anywhere near as much if it weren't for other people doing so as well.

It's a pet-peeve of mine when people call LOTR a trilogy, though I try not to be rude about it since it's a mistake I used to make myself.

Dang, I missed your reintroduction somehow Eldorion. Like Beren, I am so glad you're back  . Between you and Durin returning, I've cheerfully been kept busy reading and posting today  .

Just don't get too annoyed if I occasionally slip and call LotR a Trilogy ;) . I know better of course :ugeek: ; but it is such common currency, and usually I mean the films if I do use the term (most of the time).

Edit: Ooops, I guess this is Saturday. I thought for a moment I had somehow missed this post

Thanks GB, I have a lot of fun here. Although sadly it must be balanced with homework, but that can't be helped. :( I call the films a trilogy to help distinguish them from the book, although PJ has said that they're part of a unified whole. I still see them as more separate than the book at least. *shrugs*
