Since it is proven that you can make some money with the right fantasy characters, then why not a Drizzt franchise? He is badass, and there is a host of stories to choose from.........any thoughts?

I'll confess that my knowledge of the Legend of Drizzt is a bit limited: I read the Dark Elf Trilogy and the first two books of the Icewind Dale Trilogy a while ago, but that was it. That said, I'd probably see a movie of it. My biggest fear would be that whoever was funding it would be worried and give them a small budget, and for that and possibly other reasons it would be very cheesy.

I think that the Icewind Dale Trilogy would probably be the best bet to start with since they were the original books.

Send fan pleadings to SyFy, a Drizzt move is well within their capability, as evidenced by the second D&D movie. (You know, the one that actually looked and sounded like a D&D adventure?)

A Drizzt movie would have limilarities to the politics of Dune, but on a twisted scale with the priestesses of Lolth in Menzoberranzan. I agree that Icewind Dale would be a good place to start if you were going low brow and the later written prequel would be good to start with if you were going high brow. I left reading fantasy for a few years as IO felt saturated with it and it was the characterisation in these books that brought me home to fantasy. I love how the feud develops between Drizzt Do'Urden and the assassin, Artemis Entreri. However people wanted more of Drizzt and too much was given as I did not think the consistency of character development was there. Wulfgar became less than he had the potential to become. I also enjoyed Salvators writing of the Dark Walker on Moonshae, which makes me want to start a thread on characters you have had a crush on.
