Gildor: Do not meddle in the afairs of wizards for they are subtle and quick to anger.

Frodo: do not go to the elves for advice for they will say both no and yes.

Gildor: Others dwelt here before hobbits, and others will dwell here after the hobbits are no more. The wide world is all about you. you can fence your selves in, but you cannot forever fence it out.

I am pretty sure that last quote can be applied to a lot of places in the world today.

(given tolkiens love of applicability)

One does not simply walk into Mordor.

Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall.
Pippin: What about breakfast?
Aragorn: You've already had it.
Pippin: We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?
Merry: I don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.
Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?
Merry: I wouldn't count on it.

"Lord Denethor is Boromir's father. To bring him news of his beloved son's death would be most unwise. And don't mention Frodo or the ring. And say nothing of Aragorn either. In fact, it's best if you don't speak at all, Peregrin Took.”

"fool of a took! Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your stupidity"

and...

my preciousssssssssssss

Pippin has gotta be my fave lotr character..

Oh GB I love the Short cut to mushrooms part in the film as well I love it when Merry says `I think I've broken something' and he holds up a carrot broken in two. Brilliant!
Its a dangerous business Frodo, going out of your door. You step into the road and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Gimli: Toss me
Aragorn: What?
Gimli: I cannot make the distance so i need you to toss me
(Aragorn grips his shoulder reassuringly)
Gimili:Don't tell the Elf!
Aragorn: Not a word

I LOVE THAT PART!!!!!
Also: "What did you call me?"
And Finally:
"That's for Frodo, THat's for the Shire, AND THAT'S FOR MY OLD GAFFER!"
"Shall I describe it to you, or would you like me to find you a box?"

From my favorite chapter in FOTR:

Sam: "It's sunlight and bright day, right enough," he said. "I thought that Elves were all for moon and stars: but this is more Elvish than anything I ever heard tell of. I feel as if I was inside a song, if you take my meaning."
