Rest well young fellow (you are, after all, younger than me!)

It's 7.50-ish as I sit here. I start at 10 (Oz time). Maybe we'll run into each other 8 or 10 or 12 hours from now. I'd like to know a little more about your book. I love works that examine my favorite books. (I have a dark secret, so don't tell anyone: I have watched the appendixes on my extended DVD's more often than I have the actual movies!)

That reminds me, there's an excellent feature length documentary on Lewis in the 4 disc extended DVD set of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 8-) .

I've thought about getting the DVD for TLTWATW. Four discs you say? Is it the Disney movie you're talking about - or the Brittish TV Series?

Odo

NB I might sound iconclastic here but I thought the second Disney movie was excellent (and probably because I thought Prince Caspian the book a bit thin).

I'm wondering if your rainstorm has arrived? Is all well?

It's the Walden Media film (it was only distributed by Disney ;) ). Only one disc has the film. the other three have extras and documentaries :ugeek: .

I quite enjoyed the additions to Prince Caspian too. 8-) . I guess neither of us are "purists" on that one. Though, I did miss Bacchus and the Romp. I suppose they felt that would be a little risque for a "kids" movie  .

I just woke up and the rain hasn't started yet.

EDIT: Yay, you got an avvy (avatar). I like it

As to avatar - my daughter put it on, but I chose it all by myself.

Keep me posted on your storm (hope there's no riders on it though - I hate being wrong).

The Bacchus bit was risque - even in the book. I must admit it surprised me when I read it again after many years. Almost blushed.

Must get that four pack!

I'm no purist on Narnia. I don't believe it means I respect therse books less than T's. I just respect them differently.

Never noticed this thread before! I've written a 2 part fantasy book- about 400pages odd if anyone's interested.

I've tried writing fantasy but never gotten very far. I'm most impressed that you got through 400 pages, petty; what's it about?

It begins in the past, with a ceremony upon an island in a temple, to make a God manifest in the physical world. At the height of the ceremony a man in silver armour attacks the high priest and at the same moment a burst of random magic from the unattended ceremony blasts a hole in a cliff face and reveals a cave. In the cave are four figures. The story is about these four, how they met, who they are, how they came to be there and what they are doing.
If you meant what is it about in a deeper sense, I never meant it to be about anything save a good fantasy story (with a dash of sci-fi- there is a time travelling element to it). But reading it back it has certain themes, about the natural world, about religion and the morality of warfare. But hopefully these are never to prominent in the reading.

I couldn't remember this thread, Mr Tyrant, and looked here with some interest when you found it, only to find I had already posted here! That's getting old for you! Have you published your book anywhere?
