You might think that Peter Jackson already had enough extra footage and basic characters from the book to play with for the second in the Hobbit trilogy. But a new character, not of JRR Tolkien’s making has been introduced into the plot and apparently will have a significant effect upon The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug story. According to Zap2It she is known as Tauriel and will be played by Evangeline Lilly.
So who is she? Well, apparently she is an elf guard that gives as good as she gets. Peter Jackson commented:
“We’re quite excited about the storyline we have created for Tauriel. As you can see, she’s not an Elf Guard to be messed with.”
As we indicated yesterday there is little solid information to go on yet, but it seems the Necromancer will come to the fore in this story, also Radagast and Gandalf will explore the abandoned crypt, Dol Goldur.
Tauriel is shown as the featured image to this story, (note anonymous bit of wood behind her against green screen – dragon’s tail?) and to keep us going here is another from the film showing dwarfs looking grumpy, (best to stay in character I find…) and in the interests of balance, another of them looking happy, (but messy…again, stay in character).
Talking of dwarfs elsewhere Ori, played by Adam Brown has told the BBC that he has been told he must ‘get fit’ if he is to film the battle scenes for the final movie in the trilogy this Summer.
