Peter Jackson and the cast of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, have given an interview to Total Film. We show it here. They have been careful not to give anything away, but it’s interesting to hear which parts of the film they think will make the biggest impact.
There is speculation that scenes from Smaug have already appeared in trailers for Unexpected Journey. This is based on there being more than 15 seconds absent from the first film that features in some of the most action-filled sequences with Gandalf, which were shown in the trailers.

They have a run-down of which elements are missing and the original trailer, so that you can compare; however, do not click through if you do not like spoilers, (spoilers for a film that’s yet to be released, that is – it’s difficult to see what spoilers there could be on a book 70-years old!)
