Hobbit Extras Needed in New Zealand

by The Hobbit on December 30, 2009

If you live in or have a work permit for New Zealand and want to be a part of The Hobbit movies you will want to send in your photograph and details to Three Foot Seven Ltd.

Hobbit Extras Application
3 Foot 7 Limited
PO Box 15104
Miramar
Wellington 6243

Jack Machiela, a tour guide for former Lord Of the Rings film locations and an active blogger about Wellywood gossip managed to get the official address along with the following advice:

You MUST be able to work in New Zealand. This means you will be an official Kiwi or have valid permission to work in the country. New Zealand have strict laws regards working and insist companies must employ locals (quite right too) unless it is a job that can only be carried out by an overseas worker and being an extra in The Hobbit does not fall into that category.

Do not phone, email, call in person etc. Snail mail only.

You should send a head shot face on plus profile and full body shot face on and again with a profile shot.

If they like what they see they will send you a proper application form so make sure you include your address.

Don’t bother telling them whether you feel you will make a great Hobbit, Dwarf or Elf etc. Leave it up to them to decide, it’s their job – they know what they are doing.

Jack recommends that once you have your photographs and details in the post, you simply sit back and wait. If they don’t get back in touch you were either too ugly or not ugly enough.
