And while i am a fan now and i'd love to see him on something as big as The Hobbit, i just really don't think he's right for the role. Martin Freeman was awesome in Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, and that role is very similar to the story of the Hobbit in that it the 'i've just been chucked into this scenario where i could get hurt/killed at any moment, fly by the seat of my pants and try to get through this' sort of story. Plus he has a sweetnes about him that Tennent lacks onscreen. I saw John Simms mentioned before and he's also be a good contender. I have seen most movie, TV Show his in an his ability to take on a charcter and make it his and yet the charcter is still amazing and intact,is why i love him so much his amazing actor. He has all the aspects that should be present when portraying Bilbo. 1) A rotund facial structure, perfectly suited for a hobbit. 2) A striking resemblance to a young Ian Holm. 3) Innoncent and playful demeanor in all of his work Ive seen so far.
