I think that the film should follow the book but should include the white council and the destroying of dol guldur and the idea of having 2 films for 1 book is good as well as it allows more detail to be added to make the film better.

I hope that the movie(s) are released soon we’ve waited long enough. @Joel You are mistaken He again wore bodily form after numenor.
To both of you: the point for my ideal storyline for the movie stands against the stupid "1stmovie = hobbit, 2nd movie = inbetween... from DT. dumb" luckily since I wrote this comment, they actually saw the light and took my route.
Not to change the subject but was everyone else as disappointed as I was w/ Children of Hurin? Borrring... The Silmarillion covered it rather well.

@reg, No he is in spirit form and called the necromancer. You are correct. Sauron was defeated in "bodily" form at the end of the second when he lost the ring, not at DolGoldur. You need to read the books not just watch the films (but they had it right too)

@seank,<br

The White Council (the one in The Hobbit anyway, for there were earlier ones, it was formed in TA 2463) was TA 2953. That would put Aragorn at the time of the Council at age 22. He was probably about 10 at the time that the events in the Hobbit begin, so he wouldn't be 'advising' anyone yet. ;)

@Ian, Aragorn was born in TA 2931. If you were a true fan of the book, you would want the movie/movies to be as true to the book as possible and want it to be the best it could possibly be, which can't possibly happen with one movie. Yes, perhaps part of the reason for 2 movies is money, but we all know PJ and are aware that he's a true Tolkein fan and is committed to staying as true to the story as possible, and one 3-hour long movie just isn't enough to fit in all the details true fans would love to see on screen. I say make as many different movies as you'd like as long as the result is a big-screen version of the tale we all love so much. I mean...look at the Harry Potter movies - they always try fitting those books into one movie and they turn out terribly and fans are always disgruntled with the fact that they're not at all true to the books. Just be happy that we have someone who is so willing to make the best movie possible for the fans.

I feel like everyone complaining about the fact that it’s being split up into 2 movies couldn’t possibly be real die-hard fans of the Hobbit. I really like the idea of ending the first movie shortly after the battle with the goblins and wargs... :P
I think that in the movie they won't have Bard killing smaug, as that would mean introducing another whole character and would probably confuse anyone who hasn't read the book...

I like that a lot, well done… hopefully the script writers are thinking along the same lines…

I really like the idea of ending the first movie shortly after the battle with the goblins and wargs… <img
