The rumour in New Zealand is that Peter Jackson is about to take delivery of a new Gulfstream G550 jet which will allow him to fly to the set of The Hobbit movies in New Zealand from his other projects in the States without the need for a refuel stop.
Peter Jackson has a home in New Zealand on the coast in Seatoun with partner Fran Walsh as well as his studio empire which is based handily close to Wellington Airport.
His current Jet is a G-IV which can’t do the trip in one go and with him and Fran Walsh juggling so many projects he’s going to be making the trip to his home land from America a lot more than usual once filming of The Hobbit movie starts.
For those interested the G550 comes with four living areas, an office, satellite communications and seating for 18 passengers. It has Rolls Royce turbofan engines, which give it the longer-haul flight capability Jackson requires.
There is no price on the official website here and they don’t take Paypal but the price is believed to be around $45 million US but with filming due to start on his Lovely Bones project, the Tintin project and of course The Hobbit movies, I guess he can afford it!

He is the man!
Wish I could be there. Just to help them filming the movie. Would been my biggest adventure in my life:/ I guess theres no chance at all if you cannot stay in New Zealand for 2 years.

I think that anyone who is a fan wants to be there. Even if just to observe! They should have a contest, it would be a great way to make more money!
