I wish I could live in Mordor and be a filthy, nasty orc in a film were the evil ones win!

It really sucks to watch LOTR when the orcs get beaten. Good however is the first movie where Boromir gets his ass kicked!

ok..”all that is going back is the character”? Not sure what that means but does not sound good. Gandalf the Grey is..Gandalf the Grey he would still probably act much the same from one event to another. Never really visualized much difference there.

and they added Mike Mignola..why? Howe and Lee pretty much have this all down.

Guillermo was not a good choice.
Anybody see the last Hellboy..yike one of worst script write ups I have seen of late.

I expect we will get re-hashed creatures from Pan’s Labyrinth like he did in that movie. ..

THANK YOU Magic Carpet Ride for your point about the Great Book instead of it being a trilogy! Tolkien himself was upset that the publisher wanted the title of the third installment to be “Return of the King.” He claimed that it ruined the ending of the book and I have to agree. Now what I would love to see is a movie about the Lay of Luthien. You couldn’t do the entire Silmirillion or even one book of it, but the Lay would be an excellent story to tell with all of Hollywood targets; romance, action, epic and great special effects. Consider that Lothlorien was supposed to be a pale image of the First Age and this is how Galadriel uses the power of Nenya, one of the elven rings.

Gandalf said he had been around for “300 lifetimes of men” or something like that.
The time elapsed between Bilbo and Frodo’ stories would be like a day to him – so no visibly appreciable age difference should show.

Hello again, sorry, I was forgot Gandalf was a Maia, and I just love this Book so much. However, the movie brought the Shire to life for me, I could not get a full picture of it, but now with the movie to aid me, it fits the description perfectly. I also just love the music in the Shire, it is called “Concerning Hobbits” by Howard Shore, I am sure you will love it. I wish sometimes I could live back then, and that I lived in the Shire, it was like “Heaven on Earth” for Middle Earth. Dang it White, I had not updated my screen for a while before I wrote that. Good idea with keeping Gollum the same, and seeing as Weta and Andy Serkis are in (or so I hear) we should see that creature back in all his great form, just without the Smeagol element. While under the rings control he really didn’t have that duplicity at that time.

They really don’t need to make Gandalf younger. He’s a maiar spirit and is not subject to aging like the rest of us. He mearly appears as an old man.

It is not necessary to make Sir Ian as Gandalf younger, because Gandalf was a Maia, not a human. His apperance as an old man remains the same during the entire Third Age of Middle Earth, exept for his color, which change from grey, to white. I hope, that Gollum in Hobbit will look enough similliar to Gollum In Lord of the Rings, because they made Gollum very convinsed in LOTR.

Well, this movie has deeply caught my interest (Saying that I have read the Hobbit 4+ Times, not to mention my love of the Great Book, the Lord of the Rings. And No, it is NOT a Trilogy, it just happens to be broken down that way, it really is just one book, as Tolkien’s son states on the IV Page on the 50th Edition of the Lord of the Rings.) Now that I have that covered, Sir Ian McKellen cannot be a better choice for Gandalf, however I should hope they make him look much younger (Approximately 60 Years). Even though the movie is coming out in, 2011 is it? Anyhow, I cannot imagine any other actor than Sir Ian McKellen put in the role of Gandalf. However, I cannot imagine how they will portray Gollum.

I cannot wait for The Hobbit. Let him play a differernt type of Gandalf. He is still Gandalf to me, a smart and funny wizard. Plus, The Hobbit is totally different than LotR so of course he will have to act differently. I cannot wait. Sir Ian McKellen is amazing, I envy him.

I agree with that. The Hobbit will be a different movie than LOTR, but some actors and places will remains. I can’t imagine other actor in role of Gandalf, but he can really show us another side of Gandalf’s character.

Well, Gandalf just isn’t Gandalf if it isn’t Sir Ian playing the role, not matter how he plays Gandalf, and I would agree that Gandalf from the hobbit is different than the Gandalf from LOTR.

I get excited everytime I get a news post, I so can’t wait for this.
