Several sources are reporting part 1 of The Hobbit movie has been postponed by at least a year.
The Shooting of ‘The Hobbit’, which was planned to begin in New Zealand this winter, has been postponed until 2010 - with the release date pushed back to 2012.
However, as yet the cause for the delay is unknown.

Capone over at aintitcool.com did a great interview with Viggo Mortensen covering a large variety of topics and of course the Hobbit movies came up.
