End Of The Line For New Line Cinema

By ady | Feb 28, 2008

As I predicted earlier in the month, Time Warner had lost patience with New Line Cinema?and today the company acted by announcing it was to be swallowed up by Warner Bros.

The writing was on the wall when The Tolkien Trust went to court over alleged funds owed from The Lord Of The Rings movies, the latest in a long line of claims surrounding the LOTR movies. This one though, by a respected charity organisation was the last straw.

Both Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne who headed New Line through a rough couple of years are in talks about there futures but I’m guessing it doesn’t look too rosy for the pair.

That’s pretty rough for newline. I always enjoyed watching their movies.
But I wouldnt say they dont deserve it. They made alot of mistakes and it seems that they didnt pay alot of people. They seemed to just hold on to everyones money. Peter Jacksons DVD profits, THe new zealand actors and the biggest one thats leading to their demise Warner Bros.
