Sam Raimi – Schedule Clear For The Hobbit

by Hobbit Movie News on December 20, 2007

sam raimiHaving already turned down Spiderman 4 and telling all who would listen that he wants to do The Hobbit, Sam Raimi looks favorite to land the directors job.

His next movie (Drag Me to Hell) is a horror written by himself and his brother but after that its expected he will keep his schedule clear for The Hobbit.

Give the man his due, he did say he would only put himself forward for the job if Jackson said he wasn’t doing it and with a track record of three recent $800 million movies, Raimi would have to be favorite to land the job, in the eyes of New Line and MGM anyway – Lord Of The Rings fans may see it very differently.

He hasn’t attempted to hide the fact he would love to be involved and although Harry Sloan (MGM CEO) says Jackson may still direct The Hobbit, it could be nothing more than wishful thinking, given Peter Jackson’s upcoming schedule.
