Peter Jackson And The Hobbit

Peter Jackson And The Hobbit  | read this item

It looks like common sense has prevailed and Peter Jackson will be announced the director of The Hobbit movie within a few days.

Also expect it to be announced that The Hobbit will be released as 2 movies, one in 2010 and the second part in 2011. I’ve already reported this info some time a go but it looks like finally being made official any time soon.

What is new information is that MarketSaw (a site dedicated to the art of converting 2D movies into 3D) is reporting that The Hobbit movie is to be shot in 3D as well as 2D and will be re-released in 2012 in 3D AFTER the Lord Of The Rings trilogy has been converted to 3D and done the rounds again.

This makes financial sense as New Line will want to cash in on the massive demand for all things Middle Earth following the release of The Hobbit movie.

I wish you would list sources, or link them. :( It’s hard to pass the info along to friends without knowing it’s source.

I wonder if there’s any chance of an earlier release date…

Excellent news I can finally start looking forward to the movie’s release, shame its still another 3 years away. I agree with Kankor though is there any possibility of getting some sources to this info?

I’ve linked to the source of the 3D story (MarketSaw) but when I get leaked info regards certain appointments, news etc, I’m given that info on the understanding I do not reveal where it came from.

If they wanted the world to know it was them sharing their inside knowledge, I imagine they would post it on their own blog ;-)

Hello, there. I just recently found out about this site and the Hobbit Movie.

On the discussion about the content of the second film, and on New Line´s licence to shoot two Tolkien films, do you think there is a possibility that they would shoot a Silmarilion based movie (and not the Hobbit split in two)? Or perhaps based on Children of Húrin, just recently released?

    congratulations on the website!

I think its a given that as long as Jackson is at the helm, the second “hobbit movie” will attempt to fill in the gap from the end of the hobbit to the LOTR.

This would give him licence to bring back plenty of the old cast who it seems are desperate to be included somehow, even if its playing the son of their original character :-)
