What’s in a Hobbit name?

by The Hobbit on November 17, 2007

Popo Peatfingers of Brockenborings happens to be my hobbit name. You can find out what your hobbit name is at http://www.chriswetherell.com/hobbit/

You just enter your name in the form and out it comes all hobbitized.

The site also has an elven version. Apparantely mine is Huor Elendil which I confess I prefer to my Hobbit name:-)

How do you like yours? Leave a comment and let us know (specially if its funny).

It is worth noting, that though the names generated on Chriswetherell.com are “Hobbitized” and “Quenyarized”, they are by no means grammatically correct, nor do they follow the actual naming conventions set down by Tolkien.

My name, Isak, translates into Quenya as “Lalando”

Isak = laughter = Quenya “Lala.” To this I added a masculine suffix “do” and an infix “n”, to make it all make sense – thus, “Lalando”

Flora,
The ë in your elven name is prounced ee-yay.
Therefore your beautiful elven name is pronounced Nin-deeyay Sára-LON-deeyay, with emphasis on the LON.

Cheers, Mungo Loamsdown of Deephallow aka Celebrimbor Carnesîr.
