Here we go again… Samwise Gamgee AKA Sean Astin, is the latest Lord Of The Rings star to come out in support of Peter Jackson as director of The Hobbit movie.
Speaking to ReelzChannel about his new film ‘The Final Season’, Sean was quick to join (what seems like) the rest of the fellowship by saying:
“The person who should direct The Hobbit movie isn’t Sam Raimi, isn’t any of the other people who have been mentioned. The person who should direct The Hobbit is Peter Jackson. And the person who will direct The Hobbit is Peter Jackson. And five years from now you can go to the DVD store and buy The Hobbit directed by Peter Jackson. Mark my words. Unless somebody gets hit by a bus, it will happen.”
He also hinted he would be willing to play the father of Sam, Gaffer Gamgee. “I’ll do anything Peter asks me to do” he told the reporter.

I agree with Sam–I mean, Sean. Peter Jackson should be the one to direct the Hobbit movie.

Well one would certainly hope so. I thought that Raimi was an interesting choice but I prefer Jackson too!

I’m getting e-mails saying a deal has been done and Jackson has dropped or is dropping the lawsuit but as yet I can’t get it confirmed.
